Last time Tiger Woods played in a major (US Open at Merion) we had to wait over a month before seeing him again. That's not the case this time.

Woods has committed via his website to the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club next week. He will then head to the PGA Championship at Oak Hill the week after.

Tiger rarely plays the week before a major but this tournament has traditionally been the exception. I guess when you've won the tournament seven times and finished in the top 10 in 12 of your 13 appearances, you kind of have to make a showing.

There's been no better bet in golf than Woods at the Bridgestone over the last decade plus worth of golf. Here's a look at his last 13 finishes (just for fun):

Not too bad.

He, inevitably, loves playing this track, too.

"This is one of my favorite courses," Tiger said on TigerWoods.com. "There is nothing tricky about it; everything is right in front of you. And the fans do a great job of supporting the event."

This is the third of four World Golf Championship events on the year. Matt Kuchar won the Match Play Championship and Woods won the Cadillac Championship for his 17th (yes, 17th) World Golf Championship title.

All four rounds of the Bridgestone Invitational will be streamed on CBSSports.com
