Louis Oosthuizen has not had the best year of his career and it got worse this week. Oosthuizen announced that he would be taking two months off from golf with an eye on returning to the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland at the end of September.
This means the South African will miss the Bridgestone Invitational as well as the PGA Championship. He is currently ineligible for the FedEx Cup playoffs.
The PGA Championship will be the first major missed by Oosthuizen since the 2009 US Open.

Oosthuizen's game has been dreadful otherwise as well, though one would presume that the injuries have had something to do with that. He only has one top-10 finish on the PGA Tour this year (a T10 in March at the Houston Open) and was cut at the only major (the Masters) he didn't withdraw from.
At least he has that 500-yard drive highlight to keep him company.
