Jim Furyk has been here before. Many times, in fact. Most recently at the 2012 US Open when he co-led after the third round with Graeme McDowell at Olympic. He faltered then, famously in fact, but on Sunday at Oak Hill he'll have a chance for redemption.

It's been 10 years since Furyk won the US Open and according to Justin Ray of ESPN if Furyk wins on Sunday it will be the longest gap between major wins since Hale Irwin went from 1979 to 1990 between his.

It's strange, too. Furyk doesn't often play well at this tournament. His best finish was a T6 in 1997 and he hasn't been inside the top 10 since 2002.

He earned his pay on Saturday though, especially on the last two holes. He hit a 15-foot putt for birdie on No. 17 and then saved par on No. 18 with a putt from the fringe which was punctuated with a fist pump from his caddie, Fluff.

Here's a look at Furyk's Saturday scorecard:

It's Furyk's third straight round in the 60s after shooting a 65 on Thursday and a 68 on Friday.

The big question now -- on Twitter and in the general golf media -- is whether or not Furyk can close. He's had a history of falling apart a little bit in final rounds so a win at Oak Hill with so many big names breathing down his neck would be more than impressive.

After his round Furyk told CBS he's going to continue to be aggressive on Sunday.

"[I'm going to] assess the situation when I get out on the first few holes. It's a crowded leaderboard so go out and fire a good number."

Furyk is six for seven when leading after 54 holes. He certainly has the aura of a man who's about to make it seven for eight.
