Tiger Woods is human!

He's not of another species!

Woods announced on Wednesday that he didn't hit any full shots on the back nine of his pro-am event at The Barclays because of a balky back.

The reason was, get this, because his hotel bed was too soft.

I'm guessing Tiger Woods isn't staying at the Jersey City Inn & Suites either -- it would appear to be an issue he could, uh, get under control pretty easily.

When asked if he would get a new bed on Wednesday night he said "What do you think?"

The stiff back is, obviously, not a long-term issue -- Tiger himself said so on Wednesday. The problem for Tiger fans is that it might be some small foreshadowing for the future.

This isn't 24-year-old Tiger anymore. 24-year-old Tiger would have smoked a couple of 350-yard drive, said "yep, the back feels loose," and never even mentioned it to the press.

Thirty-seven-year-old Tiger, on the other hand, has been nagged by injuries all year -- really, for the last five plus years.

One of the best examples of this is that he missed the AT&T National, an event he hosts every year, because of a bad elbow before the British Open earlier this season.

A season Woods on Wednesday again called "great." Except this time he threw in the phrase "by my standards." Except that I thought his standards were winning majors and that's it.

The funny thing about all that silliness is that Woods would trade his five wins for five strokes at Augusta earlier this year -- a number that would have given him the win over Angel Cabrera and Adam Scott by one.

Nevertheless, as the FedEx Cup playoffs get under way on Thursday, Woods will try to win for the third time in the seven years of the tournament's existence.

He's the heavy favorite too, you know.
