Grading The Barclays

Adam Scott's last five months include the following:

Wins Masters, finishes third at British Open, finishes T5 at PGA Championship, parties in Bahamas with Justin Rose to celebrate their major wins, becomes an uncle, wins The Barclays, becomes fourth man since 2003 with 10 PGA Tour wins and a major.

So yeah, life is good if you're Adam Scott.

The newly-minted uncle gave his sister and her husband (Scott's swing coach) a shout after his round as the couple just had its first child on Saturday.

Scott also said he couldn't believe he won on Sunday.

"I can't believe it to be honest with you. I think I just played a good round today, things went my way a lot out there."

I'm glad, because Scott is a guy who doesn't have much going for him -- it's nice to see the dude catch a few breaks.

Scott finished over an hour before the leaders came home and many golfers -- including Tiger Woods and Gary Woodland -- narrowly missed tying him with birdies on the 18th hole.

With the win Scott will move to No. 2 in the world which is his highest position ever. He deserves it too. To me he's been the second best golfer in the world this year (next to Tiger) with the way he's played at the majors and bigger tournaments like The Barclays.

He has a chance to seal the deal on player of the year honors with a win in the next three events which would be great because, you know, nothing good ever happens to him.

Here are our grades for The Barclays:

PlayerGradeAnalysis
AAdam Scott has won $4.6 million in 13 tournaments this year in case you needed another reason to hate your life.
AJustin Rose had a six-footer at the last to tie his buddy, Scott. He missed it which is a bummer because a Scott-Rose playoff would have been all kinds of fun.
BPhil Mickelson teased us by dancing with 61 (or better) for a while on Sunday. But in the end his 65 wasn't even close to enough. It was still loads of fun thoug, as usual.
BIf Tiger Woods doesn't win he doesn't get an "A." Those are the standards he's set for himself, fair or not.
BRory McIlroy shot a sweet little 65 on Friday but posted average scores the other three days. Not enough this week but maybe he has bigger things to worry about anyway?
FNewly-engaged Dustin Johnson failed to make the cut this week after shooting 72-71. He probably wanted to go home early to Ms. Gretzky.
FStop playing so much, Brandt Snedeker. Missed the cut after playing his sixth straight weekend. A tournament off would do this top five guy in the FedEx Cup race some good.
