Fred Couples went on the Jim Rome Show to talk about his captain's picks for the Presidents Cup of Jordan Spieth and Webb Simpson.

My favorite part was Couples calling Rome "Romey" as if they've been buddies for the last 38 years. This is pretty much the most Couples thing ever (so smooth).

I also thought it was interesting how much he looked into, not just which 10 guys made the team, but how they got on and how that affected the guys who were left out.

Simpson was knocked out when Zach Johnson made a couple of birdies late at the Deutsche Bank Championship. That mattered to Couples (as it should).

And as he said there was just no way Jordan Spieth was going to get left off the team. Good on Couples for making that call, though I do wonder if he would have done the same had this been the 2014 Ryder Cup.
