We still have one tournament left in the 2013 PGA Tour season but Tiger Woods has already locked up the money title.
Woods sits at $8.4 million after the BMW Championship. Matt Kuchar is in second with $5.4 million and there's no scenario in the Tour Championship that would have him passing Woods on the list.
The "win" is the 10th of Woods' career. He also did it in 1997, 1999-2002, 2005-2007, and 2009. Also, as Steve Elling pointed out on Twitter, Woods easily tops the all-time list:
Money list wins
And as Adam Fonseca pointed out it would pretty amazing if at the end of Woods' career he held the PGA Tour wins record (three away), the majors record (four away), and the money list record (already locked up).
I think the most incredible thing is that Woods has now won the money title 16 years apart. He's been so good for so long that we often take it for granted.
For reference Nicklaus did it 12 years apart, Hogan did it eight years apart, and Watson did it seven years apart.
I think it's one of the more underrated of Tiger's long list of career records -- especially given the incredible influx of great foreign golfers in the last decade (four of the current top 10 on the money list are non-Americans).
This (obviously) doesn't hold a candle to the majors record -- and Woods would likely trade all 10 for one major -- but it's impressive nonetheless and just one more reason to appreciated Tiger Woods.
Also, just for fun, Tiger leads the all-time money list with $109 million, Phil Mickelson is second with $73 million, and Vijay Singh is third at $68 million.
