Tiger Woods went out early on Saturday and, wouldn't you know it, had himself a little bit of fun.
Woods was average -- as he's been all week -- on the front nine but actually got a mini-birdie streak going on the back, a two-hole stratch that included a chip-in from Woods.
He said some trash talk from Jason Dufner got him going.
"Duf was giving me a pretty good earful going down No. 13, so I was able to fire back that I wasn't shut out."
Tiger's chip-in came on No. 14.
Here's a look:
And here's a look at his scorecard:
The 69 was Woods' first under par in his three rounds at East Lake this week and at 3 over he will likely trail leader Henrik Stenson by a couple of touchdowns when all is said and done on Saturday.
Woods' round was encouraging for his fans but it's too little too late for the 2013 money list champ.
"I didn't hit it very well today, but I putted better."
He putted better, yes, but he still didn't putt that well. At the time Woods finished his round the field average for putts per hole was right under 1.8. Woods' average for his third round was right at 1.9.
So for Woods it will be a waste of coming into the Tour Championship with the No. 1 spot because he won't be catching Henrik Stenson and it's likely nobody else will either.
That didn't dampen Woods' spirit though as he talked about what the plan is for Sunday at East Lake.
"Goal is to go out and shoot a low round tomorrow and see where the chips fall."
Unfortunately for Tiger fans they won't be falling his way this week.
