It wasn't always pretty but the US Team got done what it needed to get done at Muirfield Village on Saturday.
A marathon day that included a rain delay and three sessions worth of matches mercifully came to an end because of darkness well into the Ohio evening.
When the dust settled the US Team found itself five points up with four team matches yet to finish and all of the singles matches still to be played.
Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson (who sat session three in the morning on Saturday) beat Richard Sterne and Marc Leishman 4 and 3 in the afternoon by winning six of the last eight holes (four birdies and an eagle included).
This pushed the US lead to 11.5 to 6.5 but the International Team leads two of the other four matches with one of them at all square.
Play will resume at 7:35 a.m. Eastern on Sunday morning and this is how the unfinished matches look:
Even if the matches stay as they are currently, the US Team will have a four-point lead heading to the singles matches. A lead that should be enough for them to bring home their eighth Presidents Cup in 10 tries.
