Tiger Woods' friends have been pretty quiet throughout the whole Brandel Chamblee "cheating" melee but one of them finally spoke up on Wednesday.
And he spoke up quite loudly.
Rory McIlroy was asked what he thought about the saga while preparing for the HSBC Championship in China. His quotes will surprise you.
"I think Brandel was completely wrong. I don't think he has the authority to say anything like that about Tiger Woods."
"People wouldn't know who Brandel Chamblee was if it wasn't for Tiger Woods. I'm completely against what he said and I think he should be dealt with in the right way."
That makes what Woods and agent Mark Steinberg said on Monday look tame!
"Dealt with in the right way"?
That means "fired" for those of you who haven't been paying attention.
I don't like McIlroy's whole "nobody would know who Chamblee is if it wasn't for Tiger" bit. That's a non-starter to me and doesn't make what he said right or wrong.
The pressure is on for Golf Channel and Golf.com though. That's two of the top 10 golfers in the world insinuating that Chamblee should be canned and I can't think they're the only two who think that.
I'm fascinated to see how this ends.
