Tiger Woods is back at it again this week -- this time on the European Tour in Turkey and I know you all have questions. Let's do a quick Q&A about what's going on and what you need to know.
Wait, what tournament is this again?
The Turkish Airlines Open at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal course at Belek, Antalya, Turkey. It's the penultimate tournament in the European Tour season.
Why is Tiger playing?
Well that depends on who you believe. Tiger says he's playing because he loves Turkey.
"I had a great time during my first visit to Turkey," Woods waid earlier this year. "Turkish Airlines, the Turkish Golf Federation and the fans who came to watch made it a really special event, and I'm looking forward to playing there once again."
I say he's playing because he's allowed to be paid an appearance fee in Europe. And if you've been following along at all, I'd say he's definitely getting paid an appearance fee.
First time? He's played there before?
Yes, this was an eight-person event last year and Woods got beat in the semifinals. It got crazy, too. The president of the Turkish Golf Federation got charges pressed against him for some mayhem that happened on the first tee.
So it's more than eight golfers this year?
Yes, 78 to be exact. All of the top 50 from the official world golf rankings were invited plus five tournament invites and the rest of the field to be made up of Race to Dubai participants (Europe's version of the FedEx Cup).
When is it?
This week -- Thursday-Sunday
What is the purse?
How can I watch it?
It will be on Golf Channel 4-9 a.m. Thursday-Saturday and 3:30-8:30 a.m. on Sunday (all times Eastern).
Who else is playing besides Tiger?
And Tiger is the favorite?
Yes, here are the odds:
Who are you picking?
