On Friday at the Turkish Airlines Open
I've done this approximately 293 times while playing but it's pretty jarring to watch a professional do it, especially so carelessly (the ball went a good three feet!)
You can watch the full video here. The announcers are just incredulous.
It was originally presumed that Olesen actually wouldn't be penalized a stroke because practice strokes, if they are in fact practice strokes, don't count.
But Ben Coley of sportinglife.com clarified that Olesen was penalized and clarified with an official right away that he could replace his ball.
@iaincartergolf he was penalised but had to replace his ball as it was deemed to have been moved in a practice stroke— Ben Coley (@BenColeyGolf) November 8, 2013
I can't even fathom the meltdown that would have occurred if this was Tiger Woods.
