I guess the rust is off for Tiger Woods.

Earlier this week at the Turkish Airlines Open, Woods talked about how rusty he was after not having played since the Presidents Cup.

That script flipped on Friday, though. Woods shot a tournament-best 63 in his second round of the European Tour's penultimate event of 2013 and trails the leaders by just one.

His card was clean -- nine birdies, nine pars, nothing else. Here's a look at his first two rounds:

Woods actually missed three relatively easy putts that kept him from flirting with 59. But he's right where he loves to be after two rounds of a tournament -- near the top of the leaderboard.

"I'm right there; that's the whole idea," he said. "Got two more days of hopefully making a lot of birdies.

"Hit a lot of good shots and made some putts but, like I was saying over there, I missed quite a few putts today that were within 10 feet, so it could have been one of those really low, special rounds, but I'll take it."

Four golfers are currently 12 under, one shot a head of Woods, and the group includes Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson so we should be in for some fun fireworks in Turkey.

Stenson and Poulter are actually (openly) wagering on the side as to who will finish higher in the Race to Dubai (Europe's FedEx Cup).

Woods said it's going to take a big weekend from somebody to take home the Turkish Airlines Open trophy.

"This golf course lends itself to making a lot of birdies, we have five par 5s and a couple short par 4s and the greens are really receptive. You just have to make a bunch of birdies."

The 63 was Woods' second-best score of the calendar year (to his 61 at the Bridgestone Invitational).
