This feels kind of vindictive.

On Thursday Adam Scott was voted Male Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America by five votes over Tiger Woods.

Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson were the other two golfers on the ballot.

Woods' oft-tenuous relationship with the media is consistently a source of intrigue and this decision to elect Scott 2013's most outstanding golfer seems curious at best.

I mean, what Scott did (winning the Masters and three other times worldwide) was great but Woods won five big time PGA Tour events.

It even felt like Stenson (who won $20 million by winning the races on both the European and PGA Tours) probably had a more successful second half of the season.

Woods won't soon forget the jab either -- you can be sure of that. That's his Michael Jordan side, using slights that don't really matter as fuel for his quest.

I hope he turns it into something special for 2014.
