Tiger Woods is getting his 2013-2014 season kicked off this week at Torrey Pines, site of the Farmers Insurance Open.
It's a place he is, you could say....um...very comfortable with as he's won this tournament seven times and won at this course eight times including the 2008 US Open.
If he wins again this year it will be a new PGA Tour record for most wins at a single golf course (9).
Of course Woods currently holds a three-way tie with himself and even if he does win this weekend he'll be able to tie that record twice later on this year.
Woods has also won eight times at Bay Hill and Firestone Country Club.
As ususal, Woods' only peer is himself.
The only other golfers in history who have even won six times at a single event are Sam Snead at the Miami Springs Golf and Country Club and Jack Nicklaus at the Masters.
Woods said last year he likes to stay in his lane when it comes to playing the various PGA Tour tournaments.
"Yeah, I feel comfortable here, there is no doubt. There are few courses that are like that where I've had my share of success where either I've won or been in contention to win."
I'm fascinated to see what kind of start Woods gets off to. He and Phil Mickelson have combined to win nine of the last 15 Farmers Insurance Opens and with Mickelson coming off a great week in Abu Dhabi, you'd have to think they'll make that 10 of the last 16.
Either way it should be a fun weekend -- Tiger is back and now we can officially get the 2014 party started.
