Tiger Woods announced on Thursday that he would skip the Match Play Championship in two weeks.

"I had planned to take that week off and travel with Lindsey [Vonn] to Sochi, but unfortunately that won't happen," Woods added. "Instead, I'll stay home and prepare for the Florida tournaments."

The "Florida tournaments" include the Honda Classic, the Cadillac Championship, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational (the latter two he won in 2013).

It's disappointing for golf fans that Tiger, Phil Mickelson, and Adam Scott are all skipping the Match Play Championship but it does open the door for somebody else in the top 70 to sneak into the 64-man field.
