Thomas Aiken and Bubba Watson won on the European and PGA Tours this week. A look back at the best and worst of the week.

Top three stories

1. Bubba's back -- The second-best left-hander in the sport won for the first time in 22 months at the Northern Trust Open.

2. Dustin Johnson is best without a win -- Johnson became just the eighth golfer to finish runner up in back-to-back weeks in the last 10 years. And his fiance is pretty.

3. Ike's tree, gone -- The ice storm that hit Georgia last week took down the Eisenhower tree on the 17th hole at Augusta. RIP.

Best shot

This effort from Jim Furyk was spectacular. Shades of Tiger at the 2005 Masters on No. 16!

Best Vine

Bubba Watson's son, Caleb, took over the CBS telecast at the end of Sunday.

This week in OWGR

Dustin Johnson breaks into the top 10 at No. 8. Bubba Watson moves from No. 26 to No. 14 -- his true ranking is probably somewhere between those two. Harris English continues his rise, he's now No. 39. Thomas Aiken goes from No. 113 to No. 79, narrowly missing the World Match Play Championship.

Nearest death experience

This poor guy almost got housed by an errant Charl Schwartzel drive.

Best story

Jason Allred Monday qualified for the Northern Trust Open then went on to win half as much ($388,000) this week as he's won in his entire career combined on the PGA Tour and Web.com Tour.

He was ecstatic afterwards.

"Making the putt on 18 is probably the most excitement I've felt from the crowd ever in my career," said Allred.

Bubba didn't cry (that we saw).

Best quote

Jason Gore on what encouraged him to take up golf again:

"You honestly want to know? I found out I was unemployable."

The winner gets

Bubba Watson won $1.2 million for his efforts at Riviera.

Thomas Aiken won $217,176 at the Africa Open.

Stat of the week

Bubba Watson breaks into the all-time top 50 money list. He's No. 45 with $19.5 million.
