When do I get the 30 for 30 on Michelle Wie's career? Do I have to wait until she's done playing or can we start rolling tape on that thing right away?

Wie finished tied for fourth at the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament on Sunday, after swing coach David Leadbetter said he thinks she's enjoying golf more than she has in a while.

"I think she fell out of love with the game to an extent," said Leadbetter. He told Wie to take five weeks over the winter.

"I think it's the first time since she was 5 years old that she has gone that long without touching a golf club," Leadbetter said. "We had a little boot camp before the start of this year, and you could see she was really refreshed, really ready to go."

He also said she has been shedding her parents more often when she travels to tournaments.

"Everyone knows her parents have been very involved," Leadbetter said. "Sometimes, she rebels. She's a young woman now, and she has demanded more freedom."

I'm shocked that an overbearing parent situation in the public eye hasn't gone well. Wie is such an easy target for folks -- from the Nike contract to the Tiger-like expectations to the quirky putting stance -- but she has a real chance to still be a force on the LPGA Tour (she's still just 24).

She actually reminds me a lot of Sergio Garcia. Look at what Graeme McDowell said about him during the Match Play Championship last week.

"It is good to see him back with his passion for the game of golf. He self-confessed didn't enjoy the sport for years there. He'd have rather been back in Spain on the football pitch with his team.

"So he's great for our game, I think and it's good to see him with a little bit of passion and desire for the game again."

Not sure there was a football squad for Wie to follow but hopefully there will be more top 10 days ahead, just like there were (and are) for Garcia.
