We only have 44 days until the first tee shot at the 2014 Masters will be struck and with that let's take a look back at some of the nuanced changes about this year's field.

Remember last year the cut was expanded from 44 (symmetry!) to 50 and anyone within 10 strokes of the lead. This year the actual field will be theoretically smaller as the following changes were made:

  • Top 12 and ties from previous Masters included (used to be top 16).
  • Top four and ties from previous year's US Open (used to be top eight).
  • No exemption for previous year's top 30 money leaders (used to be all exempt).

The only person that will probably be affected by any of this is David Toms. Toms finished T13 at the 2013 Masters and would have been in the 2014 edition under the old rules.

As of right now the field is 92 golfers.
