A set of Babe Didrikson Zaharias' golf clubs were auctioned off for $31,250 on Thursday at the Nate D. Sanders Auctions of Los Angeles.
Zaharias was an 11-time LPGA major winner and was the AP's female athlete of the 20th century.
The set of clubs is of the MacGregor Tommy Armour variety and is comprised of (1-2) 985T 9 Irons, (3-6) 653T Woods, (7) 152T Double Service P.P. Wedge, (8) Silver Scot #11 Wedge, (9) IMG Iron Master Putter. All are carried in a Hughes patented pipe organ golf bag with four matching head covers.
I for one think we need to bring back the double service p.p. wedge, not to mention the pipe organ golf bag.
You can see photos of the classic sticks here.
