The Masters is just around the corner (38 days, to be exact) and we're pretty excited. There's plenty of golf to be played between now and then but not enough writing about Augusta. We're trying to rectify that.

Russell Henley wasn't in the Masters at this time on Sunday. He wasn't in it on Saturday or any of the days before that, either.

But now, after his playoff win at the Honda Classic, Russell Henley, former Georgia Bulldog and Macon native, is in the Masters.

He talked about how meaningful it was to him after his win over Rory McIlroy, Ryan Palmer, and Russell Knox.

"I saw a couple Masters commercials this week, and I'll be honest, it hurt, it hurt to see them," said Henley.

"It hurts to see guys wearing the hat that you're wearing and knowing that I wasn't in. And I just kept thinking to myself, and it's been like this for a while; I just can't imagine not playing again. I just feel like that would hurt me really bad."

Henley played last season as the winner of the Sony Open and missed the cut.

"It was definitely a little bit overwhelming...I didn't expect to be in the Masters my first year on tour. But I just think going there, growing up and just it's always so special."

"I try to think positive, and not get my hopes up too much about it, but it definitely...I think about it a lot and hopefully this year will be a little bit better than the last."

Russell Henley, a young, charismatic, and very talented athlete, is great for golf and I'm guessing he plays Augusta a lot better this season than last.

Winning the Sony Open is one thing, but staring down Rory McIlroy in a playoff at PGA National is next level. One Henley has officially reached.
