I'm always intrigued by the profiles of Masters winners.

Folks like to prop up recent success as a harbinger of green jackets to come so I thought we should step back and look at what the last 14 Masters winners were ranked in the world golf rankings coming into the year's first major.

Here's a look:

From 2000 to 2006 we didn't see anyone outside the world top 10 coming into the tournament win it. Then since 2007 we've seen five golfers outside the world top 15 and just two inside the world top 10 take home the green jacket.

Zach Johnson in 2007 and Angel Cabrera in 2009 are the clear outliers here.

It seems as if we have empirical evidence to back up the prevailing theory that golf has more parity at the majors than ever before.

At the very least, it's tough to imagine only golfers inside the world top 10 having a shot when players like Harris English, Ernie Els, and Bill Haas are ranked outside the world top 30.
