The defining moments of recent Masters tournaments

Win or lose we always view this great game through the lenses of what golf's greatest stars do. The last few years of Masters lore has been no different.

Let's take a look back at the last four Masters tournaments and how greatly they were shaped by golf's five biggest stars.

2010

Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood shared a two-stroke lead over Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods after round two before Lefty got silly on second nine on Saturday. His bid for three straight eagles with a near-miss on No. 15 but that set him up for the most ridiculous shot of his career on No. 13 on Sunday.

The shot that won him a third green jacket:

2011

Rory McIlroy was en route to his coronation as "golf's next Tiger" on Sunday as he led the Masters heading to the second nine.

Then he took a detour past Butler Cabin and the wheels came off:

The coronation would have to wait another few months.

2012

Bubba Watson trailed by three going to Sunday. A 68 got him into a playoff with Louis Oosthuizen, though, and he made the most of it on this shot:

It was enough to overcome Oosthuizen's insane double eagle on No. 2 earlier in the day.

2013

People don't remember this but 2013's tournament was sort of boring save the Tiger Woods drop penalty and the last 30 minutes when Adam Scott and Angel Cabrera went bonkers.

But first, Woods' shot off the pin. Let's say that's an inch either direction. He makes four instead of eight and the tournament takes on a totally different look:

Then, Adam Scott made the putt of his life that put him in a playoff with Angel Cabrera where he made the other putt of his life:

Maybe these weren't the best or most prolific shots of each of these respective tournaments but they're how we define the last four years.

They're the shots we remember and the moments that have shaped the Masters and that kind of gravity can only be brought by golf's elite.

Who will it be this year?
