Oh, Phil Mickelson.

Lefty bumbled and stumbled in his second round on Friday at the Masters finally finishing with a 73 that included a 4-over number on the four par-3s.

He actually made four birdies but was undone by his second triple bogey in as many days, this time at the par-3 12th:

Mickelson wasn't pleased after his round.

"It sucks looking at the cut line. I like looking at the leaderboard," said Mickelson.

He threw together three birdies in his final five holes but it wasn't enough to make the top 50 and ties and as a result he'll be headed home on Friday night. It's the first time he won't play the weekend since 1997.

Here's a look at his card:

It also means his bid for 17 cuts in a row to move into a tie with Tiger Woods for seventh-most in a row ever at this tournament will come up short. Fred Couples and Gary Player hold the all-time record with 23 in a row.

Mickelson, normally jovial and relaxed between the ropes at Augusta, never could get settled in this week.

It's a shame, too, as this tournament could have used a big name to carry it on the weekend without Tiger Woods.

Namely Mickelson, which it probably won't have.

Still, Lefty said he would tune in for the first time since 1997. When asked if he would watch on the weekend he said "I probably will. It will be my punishment."
