More wins: Jordan Spieth or Justin Rose

I like to play a game here at Eye on Golf pitting golfers against one other and trying to figure out who, over the course of their respective careers, will accumulate more wins.

Previously we looked at Bubba Watson vs. Harris English (English won that debate by a mile) but today I wanted to look at Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth.

I love putting a young gun with unlimited potential against a proven star with an expiration date.

European Tour and PGA Tour wins are all that count.

Rose is 33 and has 11 wins: Plenty left in the tank for the defending US Open champ. I think there's an outside chance he could get to 20 if he can keep the putting under control over the remainder of his career.

He has long been one of the slickest iron swingers in the sport and I don't see that going anywhere. I see him ending with 17-18 wins and maybe one more major.

Spieth is 20 and has one win: What's the ceiling? If it's Sergio Garcia II then we're talking 20-plus wins easily. But Spieth likely won't play the European Tour where the victories are often easier to come by.

It's easy to crown the guy who just almost made history at the sport's most famous tournament but the landing strip is lengthy and not always smooth. I'll set his over/under at 12.5.

Verdict: I'll take Rose. That's not the sexy pick, obviously, but I think the safe money is on wins in the bank. I don't blame you for picking The Kid, though. I don't blame you at all.
