Interesting LPGA Tour and 10 things to know about the week in golf

That crazy fellow out in Los Angeles has been stealing the last few days of sports news so if you've been following that story, here's what you've been missing in the golf world.

1. LPGA Tour is hot: It's sort of been more intriguing than the PGA Tour in recent weeks. Would you rather follow Matt Every, Steven Bowditch, and Matt Jones or Michelle Wie, Lexi Thompson, and Lydia Ko?

I know my answer.

I went on the radio last week and talked about how golf overall is a sport of stars, the women's game is just being taken over by its big names. The men's tour, right now anyway with five first-timers in the last eight weeks, is not.

2. Seung-yul Noh's swing: We can talk about how he's the fifth Korean to win on the PGA Tour or the fourth 20-something winner in the last nine weeks or how he jumped from No. 176 to No. 88 in the world rankings.

But I'd rather talk about his swing. His pure-as-the-driven-snow gift of a swing that makes me climb on the YouTube once a round while watching him play.

Enjoy:

3. David Duval and Paul Casey play well: What year is this again? Duval dropped a T25 and Casey finished T11. And just for the hell of it, David Toms went T15 and Retief Goosen finished T21.

Like a 2002 US Open commercial up in here!

Duval was terrific all week:

4. Europe's futility on the PGA Tour: Here's a look at which countries can lay claim to PGA Tour wins in 2014.

Here's how long it's taken in the last five years for Europeans to win their first event of the season:

2013: 15 events
2012: 10 events
2011: 8 events
2010: 7 events
2009: 15 events

We're now at 24 events and counting. Who will be first?

5. Ian Poulter's faulty drop: We touched on it last week a bit but it's worth repeating. Poulter took an errant drop at the China Open which pushed him to a T5 finish well behind winner Alexander Levy.

The greatest part?

The Twitter contest he held afterwards for folks to draw his drop:

6. How easy was TPC Louisiana? Noh set one record by going the first 54 holes without a bogey -- he almost became the first golfer since Lee Trevino in 1974 to win a tournament without bogeying a single hole.

Here are his gorgeous first three days:

Also, Ben Martin destroyed the course record with a Thursday 62. A look at that scorecard:

7. Dewi Claire's $100,000 ace: Claire made an ace at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic on Sunday. Her reaction was pretty hilarious.

"She joked it was her biggest check of the year, then told herself while walking up No. 18, 'Wow, that's worth more than a car.'"

8. The LPGA should just make this its logo: Who doesn't love Lydia Ko?

Also, a bonus pic. This of YE Yang and Charlie Wi showering Noh was great.

9. Keegan Bradley kind of fell apart on Sunday: Bradley made an early triple bogey and lipped out, it seemed, every putt thereafter.

He noted that he actually felt like he played pretty well but he was the only golfer in the top 10 who shot above a 71 on Sunday (and he shot a 75). I don't want to project the rest of his career on this one week, and I'm not going to, but it was definitely a microcosm of the PGA Tour's stars playing poorly in the final round of tournaments this season.

10. Nice guy story of the week: Noh wore a yellow ribbon to honor the victims of the tragic South Korean ferry accident.

"Hopefully, they'll be happy," said Noh.
