The Turnberry Golf Resort is now owned by the Trump Organization, and really by Donald Trump himself.
The Telgraph has the details:
"As revealed exclusively in The Telegraph on Monday, Trump, 65, has secured himself a place in the heart of golf's establishment by persuading Leisurecorp, a subsidiary of the Dubai government, to sell him the South Ayrshire layout, with its legends, its famous lighthouse and its stunning views over the Firth of Clyde – and, most pertinently, its guarantee to stage its fifth Open in the next eight years."
The Alisa Course -- a part of the resort -- has hosted four British Opens, seven Senior British Opens, and one Women's British Open.
It is one of nine courses in the rota and will get another British Open in the next few years, as the Telegraph pointed out.
"I'm not going to touch a thing unless the Royal and Ancient ask for it or approve it. I have the greatest respect for the R&A and for Peter Dawson. I won't do anything to the golf course at all without their full stamp of approval."
That's a good thing. What's maybe not a good thing, depending on your feelings for The Donald, is that Trump could host three of the four golf majors in a five year window in the next decade.
