Before Saturday there had only been three aces by amateurs in PGA Tour history (since the tour started keeping the stat in 1983).
They went like this:
Daniel Olson: 1997 British Open
Spencer Levin: 2004 US Open
Victor Ciesielski: 2006 Canadian Open
You can add Scottie Scheffler, 2014 Byron Nelson Championship to that list after he aced No. 2 at the tournament with a 5-iron on Saturday.
Scheffler, who goes to Highland Park High School and is headed to the University of Texas next year for college, is T38 after three rounds at the tournament. He's two strokes ahead of the guy whose footsteps he's presumably trying to walk, Jordan Spieth.
Also, this was funny:
Scottie Scheffler, the 17-year-old amateur, had a hole-in-one on the second hole. Lemonades all around.— Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelGC) May 17, 2014
