The NCAA title between Alabama and OSU should be tremendous

Alabama and OSU will face each other for the NCAA title in golf on Wednesday after beating LSU and Stanford respectively on Tuesday. a

And even though eight combined golfers are inside the top 50 the real storylines are happening off the course.

Here they are:

1. Alabama is going for two straight titles. It would become just the second school since Houston did it in 1984-85 to accomplish the feat.

2. OSU is going for its 11th overall title. Since 1950 only Houston has more.

3. Mike McGraw.

Let's talk about Mike McGraw. He used to be the coach at Oklahoma State before being let go for not getting OSU back to where OSU's athletic director (and former golf coach) Mike Holder thought the program should be.

The Pokes missed the NCAAs in 2012 (unthinkable in these parts) and finished 14th in 2013. So despite winning it all in 2006 and finishing second in 2010, McGraw was gone.

Where did he land? Yep, you guessed it. In Tuscaloosa. McGraw has helped lead Bama to its third straight appearance in the title match (one loss and one win so far) but he also recruited all five golfers on OSU's team.

"It's too perfect of a situation," OSU's Talor Gooch told Golf Channel.

It really is. Will McGraw celebrate either way? OSU's Wyndham Clark thinks so.

"As much as he might not say this now, he still bleeds orange and he still loves Oklahoma State," Clark said. "He grew up loving the Pokes and coaching for so long and putting so much into that school."

Roll Tide.

Go Pokes.

Wednesday should be immense.

First tee shot is at 3:10 Eastern.
