The US Open is now less than two weeks away and final preparations are being done to Pinehurst for the event.
According to The Pilot, the course was closed to non-pros this week and there are 600 workers on the grounds (600!) getting everything ready.
I also thought this was interesting:
"Inside the tent, and a 'satellite' merchandise tent located near the clubhouse, the USGA has stocked 500,000 items, including 106,000 caps, which are the single largest selling item, said Mary Lopuszynski, the USGA's senior director of licensing and U.S. Open merchandising. During the championships, the USGA expects to do about 130,000 transactions."
The article also noted that tickets are still available for Thursday and Sunday although Friday and Saturday are sold out to the tune of 55,000.
