It was a tale of two days for Rory McIlroy at Muirfield Village.

On Thursday he sent in a scorching 63 with just 22 putts in 18 holes. On Friday, well, Friday was pretty much the opposite.

McIlroy started on the back nine and posted a 43 (!) going out (compared to his 31 on the back nine on Thursday) en route to a second-round 78.

His card was not good:

That's three straight double bogeys on the back -- the last of which was the result of a double hit ball (see video above).

And this has been McIlroy's nemesis all season. That one leaky round that sneaks up on him. It was a 74 at the Honda Classic, a 74 at the Houston Open, a 77 at Augusta, a 76 at the Wells Fargo, and a 74 at the Players.

As Jason Sobel pointed out, it's often come in Round 2, as well:

The good news for McIlroy is that his first-round 63 will keep him firmly in the mix as the leaders turn toward the weekend. He's 3 under overall and probably won't be much more than six shots back going into Saturday.

The bad news (besides the fact that Caroline Wozniacki changed her Twitter photo and apparently put a hex on the youngster) is that he's all over the yard right now.

Maybe he got his bad round out of the way, maybe there's more to come. McIlroy, though, is the most fun show in golf right now because you just don't totally know for sure what you're going to get.

Oh, and here's that Wozniacki photo:
