Fun with numbers!

The 2014 majors are halfway over with and we have some data.

Thus far only 24 golfers have played every round of both the majors and only three (!) are under par over that span.

Under par

Martin Kaymer: 4 under
Rickie Fowler: 3 under
Jordan Spieth: 1 under

Single digits over par

Matt Kuchar: 1 over
Henrik Stenson: 2 over
Jimmy Walker: 2 over
Adam Scott: 3 over
Jason Day: 3 over
Jim Furyk: 4 over
Justin Rose: 4 over
Ian Poulter: 6 over
Rory McIlroy: 6 over
Brandt Snedeker: 9 over
Chris Kirk: 9 over

Double digits over par

Bill Haas: 10 over
Steve Stricker: 10 over
Louis Oosthuizen: 12 over
Billy Horschel: 13 over
Brendon de Jonge: 14 over
Stewart Cink: 14 over
Gary Woodland: 16 over
Francesco Molinari: 17 over
Kevin Stadler: 18 over
Russell Henley: 22 over

A cool list to look at though I'm not sure how much it tells us. Am I to think that Kevin Stadler has been "better" at the majors in 2014 then Bubba Watson because he's on this list?

Not really, maybe more consistent, but not better.

It's always fun to see who survives all four majors and look back on this at the end of the year. I've got (fake) money on Jordan Spieth to be your year-end leader.

Also, for fun, here are the four leaders for fewest strokes per round in the two majors.

First round: Brandt Snedeker (139)
Second round: Martin Kaymer (137)
Third round: Rickie Fowler (134)
Final round: Jimmy Walker and Louis Oosthuizen (139)

Only two golfers (Justin Rose and Matt Kuchar) are within eight strokes of that Fowler number on Saturday. Maybe we should start calling him Moving Day Fowler.
