Andrew Loupe barely missed making an insanely long 279-yard double eagle (aka albatross) at the Greenbrier Classic on Thursday.

The albatross would have been the third on tour all season and just the 114th since the stat started being kept in 1970.

I would also venture to say it would have been one of the longest.

James Hahn made one at the Sony Open in January and Trevor Immelman made one in the Travelers Championship a couple of weeks ago.

As it stands right now the two double eagles on the PGA Tour are tied for the fewest in a season since 2008.
