Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy are co-favorites for British Open

Rory McIlroy is coming off a strong Scottish Open where only a leaky (very leaky) second-round 78 kept him from contending on Sunday. Justin Rose is coming off an even stronger Scottish Open in which he hoisted silver on Sunday.

Together they make up the co-favorites for the 2014 British Open.

Here's a look:

Favorites

Rory McIlroy: 14-1
Justin Rose: 14-1

Other favorites

Adam Scott: 16-1
Henrik Stenson: 16-1
Tiger Woods: 18-1
Martin Kaymer: 20-1
Phil Mickelson: 20-1

Fringe favorites

Graham McDowell: 25-1
Sergio Garcia: 25-1
Dustin Johnson: 33-1
Jason Day: 33-1
Rickie Fowler: 33-1
Jordan Spieth: 33-1

Everyone else

Bubba Watson: 40-1
Luke Donald: 40-1
Matt Kuchar: 40-1
Lee Westwood: 40-1
Angel Cabrera: 50-1
Brandt Snedeker: 50-1
Hideki Matsuyama: 50-1
Ian Poulter: 50-1
Paul Casey: 50-1
Thomas Bjorn: 50-1
Zach Johnson: 50-1

McIlroy and Rose certainly deserve to be the favorites though I would throw Scott up there with them as well. He's finished top three each of the last two years.

Tiger is way (like astronomically) too high (he should be more like 50-1) but you aren't going to find a book alive that will give you those kinds of odds on the Big Cat.

Everyone else is pretty spot on. I think there's some value in Sergio at 25-1, Johnson at 33-1, and Fowler at 33-1 but I'm not going to have any huge qualms there.

Also it's pretty interesting that the favorites are sitting at 14-1. Usually that number is more like 10-1 or 8-1 or maybe 12-1 at the highest. When Tiger is the favorite it's more like 6-1 or 5-1.

All in all it's a good board that should produce a spectacular tournament.
