John Singleton's story is pretty much the best story and he almost made it even better on Thursday.

The factory worker, as he's known on the Internet, was even par thru 12 holes on Thursday before being undone by a double bogey and four bogeys coming in.

Still, 6 over in his first ever major round isn't unimpressive.

He told ESPN's Tom Rinaldi his openeing tee shot is one for the ages.

"I hit it so far. I could have left right then," he said. "Standing on the first tee was the greatest thing of my life...and piping it down the middle was nice too."

He admitted he felt like we would all feel, though.

"I was terrified," he said. "I was too busy thinking 'I have to hit the fairway, I have to hit the fairway'."

He did. And then some.
