With the season winding down and Tiger Woods actually playing some golf these days a lot of eyes are on what's going to happen with the Ryder Cup team.

US captain Tom Watson shot 68 on Sunday at the British Open which was seven (!) shots better than Woods' 75 and the cap'n finished five shots ahead of Woods for the tournament.

Woods said he was rusty because he hasn't played very much since his back surgery in March, but when asked about the Ryder Cup Woods said he would pick himself (of course he would).

"I would say yes," said Woods." But that's my position, my take on it. Obviously, it's his decision. He's going to field the best 12 players that he thinks will win the cup back. And I hope I'm on that team."

Watson, who is the most badass 64-year-old around, knows it's his call and his call alone. He said he wouldn't just pick Woods or Phil Mickelson because of their names.

"If Phil and Tiger don't make it in the mix there, I've got some real thinking to do," said Watson. "Everybody is thinking that I'm going to pick them automatically. I can assure you that I'm not going to pick them automatically."

Despite that, some folks seem to think it's a right Woods has earned:

I don't really understand that attitude. Woods is great but with where his game is at right now you can't take him to Scotland with a straight face.

Watson said the decision is still pretty far out in front of him and that Woods needs to make the FedEx Cup Playoffs (which he's not even close to at the moment).

"It's just one day. It's a snapshot," Watson said. "It's not a big deal. It would make it tougher for me to pick him if he's not playing."

Of course he also said this:

Whatever happens you know there will be drama.
