We're smack in the middle of the most packed period of golf of the entire year with the British Open behind us and the PGA Championship just a few weeks away.

But first we have the Canadian Open and Bridgestone Invitational. Here's a preview of the former.

I love this stretch of all the Opens. We had the US then the Irish and the Scottish and the British and now the Canadian. This year's tournament will be played at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec for the first time since Scott Verplank won it back in 2001.

It is the oldest golf club in North America (1873) which is kind of the coolest. It also hosted a Presidents Cup in 2007.

The tournament will take place July 24-27 and the purse is $5.7 million.

You can watch Thursday and Friday (July 24-25) on Golf Channel from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday (July 26-27) on Golf Channel from 1-2:30 p.m. and on CBS from 3-6 p.m.

You can also watch the broadcast online at from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Expert picks

Dustin Johnson (12-1): Johnson has only played in this tournament one time (in 2013) and he finished T2. He's absolutely crushing the ball right now and played great at the British Open. In a watered-down field he should lead the way this week in Quebec.

Lock for top 10

Matt Kuchar (12-1): Top five in two of his last four appearances at the Canadian Open and he's been top 15 in two of his last four overall (including the US Open and Memorial). He's the class of the field along with Furyk and DJ and that should shine through on a week when scoring will be at a premium (seven of the last eight winners have been 14 under or better).

William McGirt (66-1): Top two finishes in each of his last two outings at this tournament and he's been top 35 in three of his last four tournaments on the season. He's playing some solid golf right now and has been buoyed by his putting (21st on tour in strokes gained putting). Great odds at 66-1.
