The last time the PGA Championship was at Valhalla in 2000 Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods were paired together. The video above is of Nicklaus walking up the 18th fairway to a thunderous applaues.

But remember, he nearly holed out for eagle to make the cut that year!

Tiger would go on to win that week and Nicklaus was convinced of what the hype was all about.

Alan Shipnuck wrote this for Sports Illustrated.

Woods has even overwhelmed the most discerning of critics. "I kept saying, 'I can't understand why we don't have anybody else playing that well,'" Jack Nicklaus said last week. "I am more understanding now. He's that much better."

"He shot the easiest 66 today," Nicklaus said following Round 1. "It looked like a 60. Phenomenal control, phenomenal concentration, phenomenal putter."

Things have changed since then (quite a bit, actually) but nothing can change how awesome that whole week was. From the passing of the torch to the Tiger-Bob May playoff. I hope we only get half the drama this week we did back then.
