Amid the breathtaking reports from Valhalla on Wednesday it was often tough to tell but yes, yes I believe Tiger Woods did show up for the 2014 PGA Championship.
"Like the Ryder Cup" tweeted some folks about Woods practice round crowd. "Like Sunday at a major" said others.
The whole thing was borderline insane as Woods -- who will likely struggle to make the cut -- went through his pre-tournament routine, same as every other golfer in the field.
At least some folks had some fun with it. Rickie Fowler and Ryan Palmer being two of those folks. Both photobombed Woods throughout the day.
And of course we couldn't get out of here without Ian Poulter giving his (okay, I have to admit, hilarious) take.
BREAKING NEWS... I have just left Valhalla Golf Club.— Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) August 6, 2014
So what do we make of all of this? Well it's absolute lunacy, first of all. Woods round was live-tweeted and followed more intently than the actual rounds of 95 percent of the golfers in the field will be.
Stuff like this was being uttered left and right.
That's insanity, folks. Pure and simple.
And I get it. I get that a lot of the jobs folks in the golf media have wouldn't be there if it wasn't for Tiger and that golf might be tennis without him. I sort of even get the hype when he's playing a big event.
But during a practice round? Get out of here with that. I'm with Poulter.
