Rory McIlroy basically says he's better at golf without Wozniacki

On May 21, Rory McIlroy announced that his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki was officially ending.

Since that date McIlroy has entered eight golf tournaments on the PGA and European tours and won four of them for winnings of more than $6 million.

Is there a correlation? I have no idea but McIlroy doesn't really squelch the talk. Here's what he said on Saturday at the PGA Championship:

"I think what happened has been for the better in terms of my golf," McIlroy said.

"I've put a bit more time into it and it has refocused me. I mean, what else do I have to do now?

"I go to the golf course, I go to the gym and it's just my life at the minute.

"I worked pretty hard before but the past couple of months I've really just buried myself in my game. It obviously works pretty well, so I am going to keep doing it."

Sort of tough to argue with that given that he's become just the third golfer ever to win four majors before the age of 26. I'm still a little shocked that he was so forthcoming about that even though it's probably the truth.
