To be honest I wasn't going to post about this because I feel like the embarrassment of it happening to begin with is enough to drive a man to madness.
But I can't get over the fact that Matt Kuchar had to withdraw from the PGA Championship because of a...shopping injury.
When you hear the phrases "slip'n slide" and "back injury" together, it makes sense, right? A golfer was doing something dumb with his kids and landed the wrong way and yeah, I get that.
Kuchar, however, never even got to the stage of playing with his kids on the slip'n slide because he got hurt while shopping for it. Shopping at the store for a slip'n slide!
Here's the New York Times:
"There was a party planned at the house he was staying in Louisville, and Kuchar went looking for a slip-and-slide for the kids. He tried two stores and couldn't find one."
Kuchar confirmed the entire thing on Tuesday.
"Sat in the car for about an hour fighting traffic and when I got back, I thought, 'Boy, my back doesn't feel very good right now,'" Kuchar said.
"I took Wednesday off, and figured by the time Thursday comes around it will have loosened up," he said. "Got treatment, tried to hit balls. Figured I could warm up into it and just couldn't warm up into it. I guess I basically had gotten a little out of alignment."
It's truly one of the most humorous golf injuries (sports injuries, actually) of all time.
