There's a cool Matt Kuchar story brewing at the Deutsche Bank

By Kyle Porter | Golf Writer

Matt Kuchar is in second after his second round at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Kuchar shot a 5-under 66 that included nine (!) birdies.

That's a great story because having a US Ryder Cup team guy at or near the lead in any tournament this time of year is great but it's also great for another reason.

Kuchar's caddie Lance Bennett experienced the passing of his wife Angela earlier this week and Kuchar is playing with a heavy heart. Despite the passing, he tolf GolfWeek he wanted to lead the charge to let folks know about her.

"A caddie is part of the family; a caddie's family is part of the family," Kuchar said. "It's one of those things, I can't imagine how I would survive without my wife as the father of a couple of children, and Lance has a 4-year-old little girl. It's sad. It's things you wish wouldn't happen and shouldn't happen, but unfortunately they do . . . and it's been a tough week."

Golfers and their caddies are wearing ribbons in Angela's honor.

And wouldn't it be cool if Kuchar could get the win on a week that was so brutal for him and those close to him? Wouldn't it be cool if he could raise a trophy for Angela?
