Tom Watson says he called Tiger Woods, not the other way around

It appears that there was some confusion recently on who actually picked up their phone to make the call to the other person.

On Tiger Woods' website he said a few weeks ago he was going to take some time off.

"I have already spoken to Tom [Watson] about the Ryder Cup, and while I greatly appreciate his thinking about me for a possible captain's pick, I took myself out of consideration."

On Wednesday Watson clarified who was making those calls.

"Tiger told me when I called Tiger. He didn't call me. I called him," Watson said.

This basically confirms what we were all thinking: Watson told Woods to bow out gracefully so he wouldn't have to not pick him for the team.
