10 days of Christmas: Nike RZN golf ball
Nike has a new golf ball out on the market for 2014 and it's going to be fantastic.
Christmas is upon us and it's coming up fast. If you need some last-minute gifts for the golf fan in your life, don't worry, we've got you covered.
I have to admit I swiped this idea from Shane Bacon (he's doing the 12 days of Christmas on Instagram) but I thought it would be fun to throw in some links and analysis on the gear. And since I started a little bit late I have to go with the 10 days of Christmas instead.
Today, a great golf ball for 2014.
Nike RZN Platinum golf ball
What is it: A new golf ball produced by Nike that Rory McIlroy said recently has "added a half-club to his shots."
The technology is complex but the easiest way to explain it is that Nike added dimples to the core of its ball so when you hit it the core doesn't slide around. It sticks from the inside out and thus distance is added.
Where can I get one: Well, this is going to have to be an IOU because the ball doesn't come out until March 1, 2014. It'll be well worth the wait, though.
How much does it cost: $45 for a box.
Why would you recommend it: I hit these recently and they were impressive. Definitely the industry buzz of 2014 in terms of Nike products. The Platinum version (made for "Tour Performance control and moderate spin") was my favorite of the four (Black, Red, White).
Patrick Reed holds a two shot lead over Rickie Fowler and Emiliano Grillo after the second...
Jordan Spieth is not a very good speller
Fowler shot a 4-under 67 but couldn't stop thinking about Hazeltine
Not sure on the math here, but Spieth's general idea makes some sense
This footage of a young Tiger Woods playing Riviera is terrific
