2014 British Open odds are out and Tiger Woods is favorite
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Adam Scott are your favorites for the 2014 British Open at Hoylake.
No surprises here as Tiger Woods is the No. 1 golfer in the world and won the British Open last time it was at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake -- he should be the favorite for the 2014 Open and he is.
The more interesting thing is who's the second favorite. Here's a look at the 2014 British Open odds:
Tiger Woods: 11-2
Adam Scott : 16-1
Rory McIlroy : 22-1
Lee Westwood : 25-1
Graeme McDowell : 28-1
Henrik Stenson : 28-1
Charl Schwartzel : 33-1
Jason Day : 33-1
Luke Donald : 33-1
Sergio Garcia : 33-1
On the list
Dustin Johnson: 40-1
Ernie Els : 40-1
Ian Poulter : 40-1
Bubba Watson : 50-1
Jason Dufner : 50-1
Hunter Mahan : 50-1
Louis Oosthuizen : 50-1
Martin Kaymer: 50-1
Matt Kuchar : 50-1
Paul Casey : 50-1
Wait, Paul Casey, what?
Yeah I don't know about that one either.
Hunter Mahan at 50-1 is worth a look, as is Dustin Johnson at 40-1. I'm convinced Johnson will win a British Open before his career is over and 40-1 is a good line on him.
Oosthuizen at 50-1 is pretty good too given that he fully recovers from his hip injury by the time the major season rolls around next year (he should be healthy by the end of this year). He could be 25-1 or 30-1 by next July.
Lastly, do you ever think Phil Mickelson's camp thought he'd have 14-1 odds to win the British Open year in and year out? I doubt they did, I doubt he did either.
