Bubba Watson does not care about the media (or does he?)
Bubba Watson spoke with the media after his round on Friday and said he doesn't read anything the media writes. Okay.
Bubba Watson can be a prickly dude at times, but he wouldn't know that I think that because he says he doesn't read anything I (or anyone else in the media) write.
After his second-round 72 on Friday, Bubba referenced the fact that everybody in the media was getting on him for his mini-outbursts at Hoylake.
"There's not been one positive thing," he said. "I'm waiting on that one. Then I'll start reading."
OK. Go on.
"I don't read anything but I know it's all negative," he said. "As long as my wife loves me and my child thinks daddy is the greatest, then I'm good to go."
First things first, this isn't a logical statement.
You can't know about something you don't experience. If you read it and say "I wish it wasn't so negative" then fine, you read it. But this is just sort of dumb.
Second thing: I bet he didn't not read any of the stuff in the press when he won at Augusta earlier this year.
And I bet if he actually didn't care he wouldn't feel compelled to say he didn't care. The ones who say they don't care often care the most. I say that from experience more than anything.
