There's going to be a long-drive competition at the PGA Championship this year which is totally awesome but the game's biggest hitter won't be competing.

Bubba Watson told Jason Sobel of Golf Channel that he's out.

"I’m not going to do it," said Watson. "I’m there to play golf, not to hit it far. I’ve got to practice. I’ve never been to the course. I don’t need to worry about a long drive on the 10th hole."

Watson is the same guy who said at the 2011 PGA Championship he's all about the the fun.

"I like to have fun" said Watson. "The media probably doesn't talk about it that much, but golf is boring, as a whole. And so for social media, Twitter and all of these things, is to show the fun side, to show that we are fun and we do have fun and we do have a life."

I actually do understand if he's worried about messing up his swing but for somebody who's supposedly all about the fun I don't know that "I'm there to play golf" is a very good excuse.
