California golfer, 22, bags third hole-in-one in 45 days
Nathan Spoon-Kanner nailed his third hole-in-one in the past month and a half on Monday at a California course.
A 22-year-old college student from California has had quite the run on golf courses over the past month and a half. On Monday, Nathan Spoon-Kanner drilled his third (!!!) hole-in-one in the past 45 days at Casserly Golf Course in Watsonville, California.
Spoon-Kanner nailed his first on June 29, an 88-yard shot with a pitching wedge. He followed that up with a 180-yard ace using a hybrid club on August 4. His last one came this past Monday via a 112-yard shot with a nine-iron.
“I’m nothing more than an average golfer,” he told The Santa Cruz Sentinel, although he began playing when he was just 2 1/2. “I’m just teeing in on the greens. It’s a pretty amazing feeling.”
There were multiple witnesses, according to the paper, for his first and third aces, and at least one friend was there for all of them.
“I was there all three times,” said Spoon-Kanner’s playing partner, Quinn Sanberg. “It was like an out of body experience just watching them. He’s starting to make it look easy now.”
Aside from doing considerable special education work, Spoon-Kanner has had surgeries on both knees, so all his recent success could be just sweet redemption.
“It’s more than ball and club and putting the ball in the hole. I am thankful to be somewhat healthy and pain free. I went through a lot with surgery. It was a long-haul recovery. I think I am being rewarded.”
Yeah, you could say that.
