Inbee Park has a chance to make history this weekend as she will try to finish off a series of firsts. Here's what's on the table with a win at the Women's British Open at the Old Course at St. Andrews:
- Park can become the first golfer (male or female) to win four majors in a year since Bobby Jones in 1930.
- Park can become the first female ever to win four majors in a year.
- Park can become the first golfer (male or female) to win the fourth of five majors in a season.
Wait, what's up with that last part?
It's true, the LPGA has added a fifth major for 2013 -- the Evian Championship -- which makes for an odd scenario in which Park can actually win four majors in a season and not technically win the Grand Slam.
LPGA commissioner Mike Whan suggested that we call four the "Grand Slam" and five a "Super Slam." Not that anyone is suggesting Park can win five straight, but I bet nobody is betting against her either.
I will absolutely be calling it the Grand Slam, too. Not the "Park Slam" or some silly moniker like that. You win four straight majors and you can pretty much call it whatever the hell you want to call it.
Park is having a peerless golfing season. Tiger Woods in 2000 and then some.
She has won six times on Tour so far including the first three majors by a combined eight strokes. She torched the field at the US Open in June, barely even lifting a finger on Sunday en route to her rout.
And it's not just this year either. Park hasn't finished outside the top 30 at a major since the beginning of 2009. Eight of her last nine have resulted in top 10 appearances.

Babe Zaharias won the first three majors of the 1950 LPGA season but unfortunately that's all there were. There was no fourth so she never got a shot at the magic number.
If you needed further proof that Park is far and away the best women's golfer on the planet, Mr. Woods said so himself at the Bridgestone Invitational today.
Woods called her run of wins "incredible" and said it is "pretty great to see someone out there doing something that has never been done."
