It's Tuesday of the 2014 US Open and Phil Mickelson is already scrambling
Here's a look at Phil Mickelson in some of the sandy waste at Pinehurst No. 2.
It's US Open week which means Phil Mickelson is scrambling. Like, literally scrambling, already. And it's Tuesday.
Mickelson played a practice round with Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas on Tuesday (probably no money involved there, nope!) and banged it around the yard a little bit as shown above.
That photo is also a good look at some of the new waste areas at Pinehurst No. 2. Well "new" -- they're actually harkening to the old days when the course was first invented. Between the 2005 US Open and this one the rough was pulled out and replaced by more natural elements.
By the way, Lefty's wallet is about to be empty:
George Coetzee got one of the great breaks in recent memory on Friday
Fowler misses cut but leaves us with a better idea of how to boot a gator off the course
Two of the PGA Tour's best were invited to hang out with Sean Payton and company
It's not a record, but it's not far off either
After a few Twitter burns, the Ben Crane drama is now over
This was one of the most improbable birdies of the season from Chris Stroud
